The Story Behind Our Flowers
Ste.Marg.Scot’s flowers were born from our passion for making the most of our precious 100% heirloom wool and our obsession with colourful, unique accessories. We collected the wool pieces from our cutting room floor, transforming what is often discarded, into wearable art. A labour of love, each flower is unique – hand cut and handcrafted by our team of artisans.
The Ranunculus
Ranunculus flowers, also known as the Persian Buttercup and Coyote’s Eyes, are known for their delicacy and complexity. These flowers grow abundantly along streams, and the Latin translation of ranunculus means ‘little frogs’. There are 2 prominent myths about the ranunculus.
The first legend comes from an Indigenous American story of a bored coyote that plucked out its eyes to entertain itself. An eagle swooped down and stole the eyes, and after searching blindly for them, the coyote replaced them with buttercup flowers. Ranunculus flowers represent vision and clarity of thought across various cultures and are often given to encourage someone to see things clearly or to signify a fresh perspective on a situation.
The second legend centered on a Persian prince that was turned into a ranunculus flower by nymphs after singing to his love day and night.
The Ranunculus is a wonderful gift, often given to express love and devotion or to signify a fresh perspective on a situation.
